ArtPrize! This is where my fine art journey began. For many years, I buried my fine art skills. I spent so many years in design, I felt I had lost the passion that it takes to create works for shear pleasure. After a time of contemplation, I began to realize how making art for art's sake makes me happy. The cathartic experience of creating art for myself helped me to express myself in a new way. Creating art for myself has put me on a brand new journey. After realizing that emotions are hard to articulate, I found that making art helps to release my emotions without having to name them; talk about them. After spending some time in research, I found that art therapy is the basis for this discovery. Now, with a whole new understanding and appreciation for the craft, my goal is to help others do the same. Through a series of education and research, I intend to start writing therapeutic classes for students. I am working towards a Master's in Art Therapy which will give me the credentials to help others in new ways.

 

ArtPrize started this journey for me and the experience has made me a new person. I am grateful and thankful to the Hilton Hotels -- specifically the Homewood for continuing to support me during my ArtPrize journey. I would like to thank Carol from Wisconsin for buying Brown Eyed Girl (above) and all of the voters that put this piece in the top 50 shown. ArtPrize iis the largest open art show with artists competing from around the world. The friends I have made during my time at ArtPrize have changed my life and gave me the confidence to be not only a designer, but a real artist!
